Q: Does REI accept Apple Pay as a payment option?
REI takes Apple Pay in its retail stores. Apple Pay can also be used online using the Safari browser with an Apple device or when using the REI app.
REI Stores & Apple Pay
Simply bring your Apple mobile device that is set up with Apple Pay to an REI retail store. When you are ready to pay, open up the Apple Pay wallet on your mobile device. Make sure the correct payment option in the wallet is selected. You can then hold your device up to the reader for payment.
You can always determine if a retail location, like an REI store, takes Apple Pay by using the Apple Maps app. Open the app on your device and search for the store you wish to visit.
Once you pull up the location, look for the “Useful to Know” section. Here you will see the Apple Pay logo and/or “✔ Accepts Apple Pay” if the store takes Apple Pay.
The image displayed below is an REI store we pulled up in Apple Maps. You can tell that this specific location accepts Apple Pay since the Apple Pay logo is showing in the app.
Since you already know that all REI stores take Apple Pay, you don’t have to verify with Apple Maps that every store you visit accepts Apple Pay. However, it is an extremely useful tool to use if you want to figure out if other stores such as Old Navy or CVS take Apple Pay.

Other payment options online include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, China Union Pay, PayPal, Prepaid Gift Cards such as Visa or Mastercard, REI Gift Card, Merchandise Credit, and REI Dividend.
REI.com & Apple Pay
You can also make a purchase using Apple Pay for payment on REI.com. You must use the Safari browser on your Apple device to access REI.com. Additionally, Apple Pay must already be set up on your device for Apple Pay to work for payment.
