Does CVS Take Apple Pay?

Q: Does CVS accept Apple Pay for payment?

Yes, CVS takes Apple Pay as a payment method. The Twitter post below from CVS confirms that they accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and other NFC contactless payments at their stand-alone locations.

CVS began accepting Apple Pay in late 2018. This was a few months after Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that CVS would implement Apple Pay at its stores. CVS was previously reluctant to take on Apple Pay because they had their own touchless payment system called CVS Pay (similar to Walmart Pay).

CVS App & Apple Pay

We attempted to use Apple Pay for payment on the CVS app. Unfortunately, Apple Pay was not an option for payment on this app. You can see from the images below of the app that the accepted payment methods are Visa Checkout, PayPal, gift card, and the major credit cards.

As a side note, customers that shop at CVS stores can now use PayPal or Venmo for payment in-stores. A QR code at the register is scanned with the PayPal or Venmo app to complete the payment process. Funds are used from the existing balance, credit card, debit card, or bank account. CVS is the first retailer to implement this QC code technology for payment.
