Yes, WinCo does accept checks for purchases just like many other grocery stores. You will have to show valid identification with the check. The address on the identification must match the address on the check.
WinCo accepts the following identification cards when presented to the cashier with your check:
- State-issued driver’s license with a photo
- State ID card with photo
- Military Identification when presented with an additional valid form of identification
- Valid Passport Card when presented with an additional valid form of identification
- Native American Identification Card when presented with an additional valid form of identification
The information on your identification must match what appears on the check, such as your name and address. WinCo requires that your check have a pre-printed address and phone number on the check. Additionally, they require the check to be within the local trading area.
Checks can be made out for the purchase price plus cash back if permitted by the store. We advise asking the cashier if you can write the check over the total before you attempt to do so.
