I remember my mom routinely pulling out her checkbook to pay for groceries when I was a kid many years ago.
However, times have changed. People now rely heavily on credit or debit cards for their preferred method of payment in stores. For many people, carrying around cash or having to write out a check is much more cumbersome than swiping a card to complete a purchase transaction.
While credit or debit cards are the preferred method of payment for many individuals, checks are still accepted at many grocery stores. Below is a selection of grocery stores that accept checks. Clearly the list does not cover every store but it gives you an idea of some major grocery stores that accept checks.
