Update 8/10/2019: We originally wrote this article back in November 2017. We would have speculated that Publix would have implemented Apple Pay sometime in 2018 based on the perceived demand. However, Publix has been dragging their feet on providing this technology to customers at all stores.

According to TheLedger, Publix has had a pilot program for Apple Pay in 14 Virginia stores as of June 2019.
