Does Target accept checks?

A:

According to NPR, check usage for non-cash payment transactions was at 46 percent in 2003. By 2012, the percentage was 15%. Over these years, people have switch from checks to debit cards as their preferred method of payment for non-cash transactions.

While checks have lost their glory, they are still accepted by many stores in the United States. Places like Best Buy and grocery stores, still accept checks. But, what about Target?

According to Target, they accept the following checks in their stores:

  • Personal Checks
  • Business Checks
  • U.S. Traveler’s

Note that foreign checks are not accepted. Additionally, you cannot use a check for transactions made on Target.com.
