A credit card number that starts with a 4 is associated with a Visa. All Visa card numbers being with this number.
Let’s now dig a little deeper to determine the type of Visa cards that start with the digits 4400. We checked the Bank Identification Number Database (BinDB) for credit cards that began this number. The sampling of cards we searched were all Visa debit cards.
If you have a specific credit card that you are trying to verify, we suggest visiting BinDb and do a search with the first six digits of your credit card. The first six digits are known as the Issuer Identification Number or the Bank Identification Number. These numbers associate your credit card to whoever issued the credit card.
Be aware that while the first six digits identify the issuer, the remaining numbers minus the last number is your account number. It goes without saying that you should keep the account number private.
