Q: Does Staples take Apple Pay as a payment method?

Yes, Staples takes Apple Pay. They were one of the first retailers to implement the technology in 2014. However, read on for additional details.

Staples Stores & Apple Pay

Staples stores are equipped with contactless readers that can be used to pay with an Apple Watch or iPhone. If you are unsure how to use Apple Pay at a register, speak with the cashier who will walk you through the process. Be sure Apple Pay is set up on your Apple device before attempting to use it for payment.

Staples App & Apple Pay

The Staples app will display an option to pay with Apple Pay at checkout assuming Apple Pay is fully set up on your Apple device. The image below from the Staples app confirms the ability to pay with Apple Pay on the app.

Staples.com & Apple Pay

We attempted to checkout on Staples.com using Apple Pay but we were not presented with this payment option. According to Appleosophy, Staples removed Apple Pay as a payment method on Staples.com. We have no indication from Staples that they will add Apple Pay back onto Staples.com.

Apple Maps & Apple Pay

You always can confirm if a physical store accepts Apple Pay by visiting the Apple Maps app. Once in the app, search for the store you wish to visit. When the store is pulled up, look for a section titled “Useful to Know” under where the address, phone number, and website address are displayed. Here it will show “✔ Accepts Apple Pay” and/or the Apple Pay logo if the store takes Apple Pay.

The Apple Maps example below shows both “✔ Accepts Apple Pay” and the Apple Pay logo which indicates that the Staples in Cincinnati accepts Apple Pay.
