Yes, McDonald’s takes Apple Pay. You can use it at the register, kiosk, drive-thru, and through the McDonald’s app. This allows for a more secure payment method as the access to credit card numbers is eliminated through the random tokenization technology that Apple Pay uses.
You can always verify a fast food restaurant, such as McDonald’s, takes Apple Pay by using the Apple Maps App. Simply search for the fast food restaurant you wish to purchase food from in the app. Once the restaurant is pulled up, scroll down to the “Use to Know” section. This section is below where the restaurant’s phone number and website address are displayed. Here you will see the Apple Pay logo and/or “✔ Accepts Apple Pay” if the restaurant takes Apple Pay.
Most of McDonald’s cashiers will be thoroughly trained on using Apple Pay. Simply tell the cashier you wish to use Apple Pay when it is time to pay and they will assist you, if needed, with your transaction.
